In the question of whether or not globalization presents a new field of oppertunity, I would like to start of with looking at a text I looked at earlier in this essay called A place of ones own: schooling and the formation of indentities in Modern Nepal by Stephen Carney Ulla Ambrosius Madsen, together with the text Consumer Culture and Identities in Kathmandu: Playing with Your Brain by Mark Liechty The first text, presents the oppertunity of breaking out of historically constructed social classes, the individuals placement in the family and indentity development, through education and activities at school in modern Nepal. I believe that globalization plays a significant role in education because it creates new oppertunities for†¦show more content†¦This here is the picture of the wonderful oppertunity that globalization and awareness gives to society, but there are of course many other ways to look at globalization in the modern world. I would like to also mention the text A Life of Ones Own in a Runaway World by Beck, that focus on individuals need for freedom, and the dream of being the boss of your own life. I believe that some would argue, that this new focus on the individual in the western world and less on the development of society, can have a downside for the part of the world who does not have the means to do the same. This here would present a picture on how globalization only offers a new field of oppertunity for the people who have the means to take control of their own lives and only focus on their own individual. I would argue that depending on which side, because there are many, of globalization you look at, you can find either a field of oppertunity or a new way to structure old inequalities. Hopefully the closer we move to a more globalized world, we will experience individuals and society in closer relation to eachother, and globalization would then be catagorized as a field of oppertunity. 8.
